As a cutting machine operator, you are a specialist for high-precision work. When holes, recesses or indentations have to be in exactly the right place, when parts weighing tonnes have to be dimensioned to an accuracy of a hundredth of a millimetre, then your skills are in demand. To be able to meet these requirements, you evaluate technical documents and determine the important data for production. Then you select the appropriate tools - such as turning tools, milling cutters and drills - and testing equipment. You often work with computer-controlled machine tools, which you also program yourself and adjust exactly to the customer's wishes. In order to comply with the exact specifications and quality standards, you constantly check the workpieces during the production process - in case of deviations, you correct the settings accordingly.
